About the PBS Video Collection
NC LIVE, with support from the State Library of North Carolina, teamed up to purchase 380 educational and documentary videos from the Public Broadcasting Service. These videos, available in Flash-based streaming format, are now permanently available online and free of charge to the North Carolina K-12 public school community.
Using NC WiseOwl, students and teachers will have unlimited online access to PBS’ library of award-winning programming, including Ken Burns’ “The Civil War,” as well as the Emmy award-winning series “American Experience” and “Frontline.” In addition, these videos are freely available for home-viewing by all North Carolina citizens based on their affiliation with a local public or academic library (see your local public librarian for access information).
NC LIVE is a statewide collaborative among the nearly 200 public and academic libraries in North Carolina. Students, faculty, and staff from any of North Carolina's community colleges, independent colleges and universities, and public universities, as well as patrons from the state's public libraries can access all NC LIVE content at no cost.
